To actively strive to provide a quality park system that offers a diverse range of experiences, preserves local resources, and provide a safe, pleasant, and enjoyable environment.
The Coeur d’Alene’s Parks Department maintains 584.5 acres, that includes twenty-eight developed parks, Tubbs Hill natural area (164 acres), Canfield Mountain (24 acres) and the Centennial Trail within city limits, numerous public beautification areas, boat ramps, docks, and the ever popular "Fort Sherman Playground". There are covered picnic shelters (gazebos) within the parks system that can be reserved. The Parks Department prepares plans for the development of future parks. Through the Urban Forestry program, the Parks Department provides for the care of more than 20,000 public trees. The Parks Department also maintains the city's cemeteries and ten municipal buildings.
Per Ordinance 4.25.100 All City owned, leased, or maintained beaches, natural areas, parks, playgrounds, and playfields are closed between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
